A sweet,cheesy German classic.

Ingredients: (4 servings/4 toasts)
-4 slices of toast (preferably white bread)
-Canned pineapple rings
-4 slices of cheese (gruyere, emmentaler, or swiss)
-Ham (preferably Canadian ham/bacon)
Step 1: On a plate/tray, place your pineapple rings on top of the toasts (make sure you drain them a bit) on top of the slices. If you are using ham, place ham down before the pineapples.
Step 2: Take you slices of cheese and lay on top of the toast. Toast in toaster oven or any other suitable
                                           appliance until the toast is
                                           golden brown or your cheese
                                           is slightly brown.

This dish is an open sandwich called Toast Hawaii is also known as Hawaiian Toast and was popularized by German TV cook Clemens Wilmenrod in the 1950s. Many other versions of this dish include a maraschino cherry in the center of the pineapple. You also don't have to include the ham if you don't have it in your pantry/fridge. In the picture shown, I used Swiss cheese but you can use Guyere or Emmentaler too. I also didn't happen to have ham in our fridge that day so mine was a plain toast with cheese and pineapples, but it still turned out delicious. Hope you guys give this a shot!
